WHELPING:

Whelping litters consists not only of birthing the litter, but also the development and socialization of puppies through 49 days of age. Some of the things associated with this are introduction to sounds in the beginning while their ears are working but their eyes are not open yet.

 Puppies are raised in our home so they are constantly hearing noises of everyday living (we have a vet on call 24 hours a day). They are exposed to bird wings (quail, pheasant, duck and pigeon). Around 5 weeks they are taken to water every day where they will begin swimming. Then they are started on dead birds.

Around 5 to 6 weeks they are on live birds. They spend much of their days outside observing nature, taken on walks through cover, over obstacles and through ditches. At 7 weeks they are ready to go home and tackle the world (or if you choose we will raise your puppy in our home).
